MUMBAI: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone
starrer, Director Marc Webb's 'The Amazing Spider-Man', has had a super
run at the box-office.
The
film's opening weekend collections are in the range of Rs 270 million
(Rs 27 crore net). What 'The Amazing Spider-man' has done in three days,
Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 'Ferrari Ki Sawari' has struggled to achieve in
two weeks! With very dull response the two-week total of 'Ferrari Ki
Sawaar' is approximately Rs 270 million (Rs 27 crore net).
Sony
Pictures India, Managing Director, Kercy Daruwala said, "Spider-Man is
the most consistently successful movie franchise in India and it’s great
to see that five years since the last movie, and with a whole new cast
and storyline, the franchise is going from strength to strength. What’s
important to note is that a significant part of the box office has come
from smaller centres as we have leveraged our strength in distributing
and marketing this film across the country.”
Meanwhile,
Kunal Kohli's 'Teri Meri Kahaani' has also seen a sluggish first week
with collections in the range of Rs 240 million (Rs 24 crore) net. PVR
Pictures and Dibakar Banerjee's 'Shanghai' has seen the poorest
response, with approximately Rs 250 million (Rs 25 crore) net in three
weeks.
After getting rave
reviews, Sony Pictures is confident that the run taken by 'The Amazing
Spider-man' will continue. “Many people have not had a chance to see the
film yet. That, along with great reviews and word of mouth, leads us to
expect to continue this performance over the weeks to come,” added
Daruwala.
